New Mike Harding Show goes from strength to strength

The new online Mike Harding Show is causing quite a buzz and has given the UK and beyond a new media outlet for the best in acoustic, folk and roots music with a much loved and familiar voice from the UK airwaves. Mark Radcliffe arrives of the BBC Radio Folk Show

Taking over from Mike Harding, Mark Radcliffe is now heading up the BBC’s flagship folk programme on Radio 2. Last week he played tracks by both Jackie Oates and Faustus ahead of their new albums both arriving in March 2013. Faustus hit the road with come back tour

Friday (28th Sept) saw the first day of an 18 date, autumn 2012 come back tour for the much-missed Faustus. Featuring Paul Sartin (Bellowhead/Belshazzar’s Feast ), Benji Kirkpatrick (Bellowhead/Seth Lakeman Band) and Saul Rose (Waterson:Carthy/Whapweazel), Faustus is one of the most star-filled line-ups on the folk scene and deliver full-force folk vigour in pwoerful and unforgettable performances. Spiro hit the road to major summer festivals

Real World Records signing and inventors of astonishing system music for folk fans, Spiro continue with an pack summer of festival dates. A week ago they played Songlines’ Encounters Festival at King’s Place in London and over the next few weeks have an exceptional run of festival dates for June/July including Up To Nature Festival nr. Stroud (29/6), WOMAD Bristol Zoo (30/6), Priddy Folk Festival (6/7), Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall (21 & 22/7), Cambridge Folk Festival (27/6) and WOMAD Charlton Park (28/7) with more dates to follow in August and September.

Ahead of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this evening (Weds 8th Feb) which sees Jackie Oates nominated for the Best Album award with her album ‘Saturnine’ and the Folk Singer Of The Year Award, Jackie will be doing a session and interview on the BBC Radio Drivetime show with Simon Mayo, immediately before the Folk Awards are broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. Jackie will also be interviewed on BBC Radio Oxford’s breakfast show the same day.
